Arctic Wall Light
The Arctic Wall Light is part of Bodo Sperlein's first comprehensive collaboration with the Gustav van Treeck workshops, and draws its material logic from glaciers, ice shelves, and the dense opacity of frozen water.
Each light is hand-cut from solid cast Dalle de verre, its irregular broken edges and raw cut lines giving the glass a pulsating inner structure that shifts entirely as light moves across it. Mounted on the wall, the piece activates the surface around it, refracting light outward in ways that change with time of day and viewing angle. Because of the nature of the material and the individual hand of the craftsperson, every Arctic Wall Light is a unique object.
