VAN TREECK
Founded in 1887, the Munich-based Gustav van Treeck workshops are among Europe's leading mosaic and glass ateliers. Their craftsmanship has distinguished sacred spaces, public buildings, and architectural projects for generations.
Bodo Sperlein presents his first comprehensive collaboration with the traditional mosaic and glass workshops of Gustav van Treeck.
The collection is the result of a dialogue between contemporary design and 140 years of glass painting and finishing artistry; a meeting of artistic vision, exceptional craftsmanship, and material poetry.
For Sperlein, glass is not just a material, but a carrier of light, depth, and atmosphere. The works range between object, sculpture, and architecture. Each piece has its own character and tells an individual story through its structure, colour, and light.
All works are created in close collaboration with the artisans at Gustav van Treeck. Tradition, material knowledge, and experimental design combine to create contemporary glass art that enlivens light, space, and object in equal measure.
For Bodo Sperlein, the collaboration has personal significance: having grown up in Munich, he is returning to a place where craftsmanship tradition is alive and well, while his London studio brings an international perspective. Past and present, local heritage and global practice merge in a common language of glass, light, and form.
