For the 48th edition of Salon Magazine, the publication looked at new designs that develop and reinterpret culture through an appreciation of history and tradition. Among the selection is the distinctive Edifice Collection, designed by Bodo Sperlein for Meissen.
Edifice embodies the idea of creating something new through an appreciation of the past. The collection reimagines Meissen’s historic Berlin Handles, transforming them from their original functional use into decorative and load bearing architectural elements within a contemporary design.
By taking an iconic detail from Meissen’s heritage and giving it an entirely new role, Sperlein brings a fresh perspective to the historic porcelain manufacturer. The result is a collection that bridges craftsmanship, history and contemporary design, demonstrating how tradition can be reinterpreted to create something entirely new.
