Schotten & Hansen Walls

At the heart of the MENU 2025 Exhibition, held during Milan Design Week, was a bespoke modular wood veneer wall system, designed exclusively for Schotten & Hansen.

This room-within-a-room installation formed the architectural framework of the exhibition, shaping the majority of the space and guiding visitors through a sculptural interior landscape. Conceived as both structure and experience, the system reflected Bodo Sperlein’s visionary approach to architectural design, where craftsmanship, material innovation and spatial rhythm come together.

Featuring curved alcoves for shelving or seating, intricate woodwork, and the innovative Ridge Line linear wood texture, the installation redefined the possibilities of interior space. Its modular construction allows the wall system to adapt to different environments, creating intimate zones within larger rooms while maintaining a sense of openness and flow.

The natural warmth of the wood veneer is enhanced through soft curves and precise detailing, demonstrating Schotten & Hansen’s expertise in refined timber surfaces alongside Sperlein’s sculptural design language. Both functional and atmospheric, the system offers a new way of considering walls not simply as boundaries, but as active architectural elements that can frame, divide, display and invite interaction.
