Phoenix
Meissen
Rethinking traditional Meissen porcelain, the Phoenix tableware collection is characterised by deliberately broken, dissolved edges. Forms seem to open up, tear apart, and emerge anew. The name refers to the mythological bird that is reborn from the ashes, a symbol of renewal and transformation.
Traditional porcelain vessels appear in the moment of metamorphosis and take on an organic, almost living presence. Fragmentation gives rise to strength, and rupture to a new elegance.
The result shows porcelain as a durable, high-quality material with exceptional expressive power. In Sperlein's hands, it becomes a medium for contemporary experiments in form and, at the same time, the vehicle for an attitude: design as cultural heritage, created to last.
Produced in fine Meissen porcelain. World premiere during Milan Design Week 2026.
