Edifice

Structural elements and delicate gold decor creates stability with Edifice. Using the historical Berlin Handles which define much of Meissen’s early work, Edifice is Bodo Sperlein's first collaboration with Meissen, a meeting of structural thinking and more than three centuries of porcelain tradition.

The handles become load-bearing forms; construction becomes ornament; stability emerges through balance. Each object presents itself as a small, precisely composed building: sculptural in character, entirely functional in use.

Ornamentation arises not from decoration but from the logic of structure itself. Conceived alongside the organic Phoenix collection, Edifice marks the opening chapter of a long-term creative partnership between Bodo Sperlein and Meissen, an argument for porcelain as a medium for ideas that endure.

Produced in fine Meissen porcelain. World premiere during Milan Design Week 2026.
