Founded in 1908, Nikko is an eminent brand with a longstanding history. After witnessing the expertise of the company’s craftsmen, whose skills have been passed down through generations, Bodo designed several collections that honour this cultural heritage.

Founded by Bodo Sperlein in 2000, the studio is based at Oxo Tower Wharf on London's South Bank. Trained at the University of the Arts London, Bodo has spent over two decades building a practice defined by material precision and a quiet confidence in craft. Work from the studio is held in permanent museum collections and appears on tables in Michelin-starred restaurants around the world..

The studio works at the intersection of traditional techniques and contemporary sensibility, looking for the tension between the two rather than smoothing it over. The studio collaborates with leading international manufacturers across furniture, lighting, tableware, and textiles. Recent partners include Meissen, Lobmeyr, Dibbern, GAN Rugs, LZF Lamps, Schotten & Hansen, and Gravelli — brought together most visibly through the studio's annual Menu exhibition at Milan Design Week, which Bodo has curated since 2024. Longer-standing relationships with brands such as Dior, Swarovski, Mulberry, and Nikko reflect the studio's position across both luxury fashion and design manufacturing.
