CASCADE PAVING STONE
With the Cascade Paving Stone, Bodo Sperlein transforms the conventional paving stone into an object of sculptural expression. Developed for Gravelli, the collection explores the relationship between material and movement, elevating an everyday architectural element into a refined design statement.
Inspired by the rhythmic flow of cascading water, the paving stone's surface is characterised by a series of gentle, undulating contours. These subtle topographical variations create a unique repeating pattern, bringing a sense of movement and depth to outdoor spaces. This same shape is seen in the Cascade Planters.
The paving stone marks an innovative step forward in design, incorporating Godelmann's patented GDM.KLIMASTEIN technology. Unlike conventional two-layer climate stones, it employs a functional three-layer structure.
Rainwater enters through the catalyst layer, is stored in the storage layer, and evaporated from below through the capillary layer, resulting in cooler cities, reduced flood risk, and sustainable protection of groundwater resources.
