STORY ON A PLATE - LORNE
Highlighting the creativity which can be found in plating a dish, Bodo Sperlein’s tableware designs took centre stage at Lorne, an experimental British restaurant located in the heart of Pimlico.
As a frequent guest at Lorne, Bodo Sperlein knew that it was the perfect place to set his designs. Combining artful tableware design with creative food design, the pieces served as the ideal table setting for the team’s ambitious designs.
The team at Lorne is led by Graham Brown, head chef, who came from a two and three Michelin-starred background. As a neighbourhood restaurant, having cohesive and quality tableware is important, however, it is also important to be practical, which is why the Juno and Ombra ranges fit so well with this restaurant, blending versatility and practicality with luxury and elegance.
“Crockery is such an important part of the process for a chef. It frames how a dish is seen and how it’s experienced. You can cook something perfectly, but if it’s not served on the right plate, it loses impact. The right plate helps the food speak the way you want it to.”
