Bodo Sperlein

This signature collection of lighting highlights Bodo Sperlein’s interest in preserving and celebrating traditional skills. In this case, hand-made bone china flowers had fallen from favour, and were considered kitsch. With such a small group of ladies left in Staffordshire dedicated to this craft, Sperlein sought to ensure that these skills survived into the 21st century. Delicate and detailed plain white flowers were fused into a dramatic hand blown borosilicate glass pendant. When the low voltage halogen light inside is illuminated, shadows of the flower shapes are projected around the room, adding a theatrical air to any interior.
